tauernstays is a curated regional guide for the Oberpinzgau — six villages between Krimml and Mittersill, every vacation rental hand-picked, every place with real insider knowledge.

We are not a booking platform. If you find a tip with us and want to rent a vacation home, you book directly with the provider (Vrbo, FeWo-direkt and other partners). We mediate the click — the booking itself happens transparently on the respective platform.

What you find here: recommendations, explanations, insider notes — and an AI concierge named Hawi who knows which place suits which trip.

We show few, well. Instead of an algorithm with 5,000 interchangeable listings, we currently feature around 15 vacation rentals — two to three per village, each with a clear profile (for whom, with what, in which price range).

Selection is based on: rating (at least 25 reviews, ≥ 4.5 stars), location (short walk to the ski area, hiking trailhead, village centre), ownership (family-run over anonymous chain), and personal research.

What we don't do: paid premium placements. The order in which a rental appears doesn't depend on whether the provider pays us more commission.

Behind tauernstays is Peter Möschl from Krimml, Oberpinzgau. What started as a personal tech project (an AI concierge with local knowledge) has grown into a serious travel magazine — with the ambition of covering a region in the depth a solo operator can reach.

Current beta: Oberpinzgau (Krimml, Wald, Neukirchen, Bramberg, Hollersbach, Mittersill). Further regions are in preparation.

“Hawi” is the Pinzgau short form of “Habe die Ehre” (a traditional Austrian greeting, roughly “at your service”) — and recently also the name of our AI concierge. Hawi knows the six villages, the hiking trails and ski areas, the typical travel situations (“family with dog”, “ski tour with hut overnight”, “rainy-day program in high summer”).

Hawi books nothing — he listens, answers honestly (including “I don't know”) and points you to the right place page. What Hawi can technically do and where its limits are: see our privacy policy, AI section.

Click commissions. If you book through one of our links at Vrbo, FeWo-direkt or another partner, we receive a small commission — at no extra cost to you.

We earn nothing from advertising, premium listings, cookie sales or newsletter addresses. Affiliate commissions are currently our only revenue stream — and that's intentional: it keeps our selection independent.
